FAQ's

How Do I use the Anti Static Bag ?

Our bags are very easy to use just follow the step by step instructions "How To Use" shown below.

What does the Anti Static Bag Do and why should I use one?

We are often told to handle our crafting items as little as possible - but let's be honest this is near impossible whilst we are crafting and even just looking through our collections of goodies. Whilst browsing or working with our crafting materials our normal handling of any products we can leave finger marks and smears that even though we can't see them - they are there. Static can also build up on your items which again you can't see - acetate and plastics are notorious for this. Most of these problems only become apparent when we are using heat embossing powders, chalks, mica powders etc. The powders you use - can stick to these unwanted areas but if you first use the Anti Static Bag - this will help to eliminate static, smears, smudges, fingerprints and stray flecks of embossing powder that could appear on your work. It takes seconds to use and could save that special piece of work from being ruined.

I am Allergic to Talc - Do your Anti static Bags contain Talc ?

No. We use only natural products and our Anti Static Bags contain no Talc or Chalk so will not stain or mark your work.

Are there any other uses for the Anti Static Bag ?

Yes - the Anti static Bag is not just for heat embossing:

You can use the bag to de-tack adhesives and sticky stuff. Just simply pat your Anti static Bag over the residue. Wipe your scissors with the Anti Static Bag to help prevent a build up of sticky residue when cutting out stamps mounted on to EZmount, or sticky backed items etc.

If you use a tidy tray for collecting your embossing powder, glitter etc - then wipe the tray with the bag before using to get most of the powder back in to your pot. I personally use a semi-gloss card stock folded in half (wiped first with the anti static Bag).

If using Versamark for stamping when colouring with chalks or mica powders - use the Anti Static Bag prior to stamping, this will help any excess chalk or mica from sticking to the card where you don't want it.

How long will the Anti Static Bag last ?

This will vary from person to person, the item your are using it on and how much crafting you use it for. Try to practice with the bag on some spare card if you are a first time user of the bags so you can soon learn the best method that is suitable for you. Remember - Only a very little is used each time and our Anti Static Bags contain much more than other standard bags as we believe in value for money - so a little goes a long way.

When not using your Anti Static Bag for long periods we would recommend to keep it in the plastic bag.

Why are there different colour Anti Static Bags ?

Two reasons apart from they are just fun:

1. To make our craft worktops a little more colourful and so we can pick our favourite colour.

2. A coloured bag is often much easier to spot on our often cluttered worktops (I always used to loose my old one on my desktop under all my clutter).

I have another question not shown - how do I ask it ?

Please just Email Us: sales@inkylicious.co.uk and we'll be more than happy to help.

OK so lets get started .... I'm going to show you some basics - first a couple of examples on popular card stock

such as white and pearlescent, then we'll move on to :

1: Basics - how to use the Anti Static Bag.

2: Using the Anti Static Bag with Acetate.

3: Using the Anti Static Bag with Acetate to create faux metal embellishments.

Examples

Image shows Black embossing powder on white card stock. Image on the left without using Anti Static Bag. Image on right by using the Anti Static Bag has cleaner sharper lines and no loose speckles.

Image shows Gold embossing powder on pearlescent card stock. Image on Left without using Anti Static Bag shows blooming around the image left from the embossing powder. Image on right has cleaner sharper lines and no loose speckles and no blooming.

1. Basics - How To Use Your Anti Static Bag for Stamping

I've shown the following using black card stock as it shows the processes off more clearly for you.

Use the exact same process no matter what colour card or paper you are using.

I'm using Versamark ink pad, Fine line corner stamp, black card stock and white embossing powder.

Gently tap your Anti Static Bag on the card to release some powder and swirl over your card - remember a little goes a long way! Don't worry about the powder showing - we'll remove that after embossing.

Apply a generous amount of embossing powder and tap firmly but gently to remove any excess powder. If using fine detail embossing powder you can use a paint brush to remove any odd stubborn flecks.

Heat the embossing powder with your heat gun - HINT - let the heat gun warm up for 20-30 seconds. Working from one side apply the heat to the image until it turns shiney, move to the next area.

Allow the embossed image to cool then using some kitchen roll or other soft clean cloth - gently rub over to remove any residue anti static powder from the card.

Result - Nice clean sharp embossed image.

Here's one I did without using the Anti Static Bag - You chose which you'd prefer!

2. Stamping and Embossing on Acetate

I've shown the following using black card stock underneath the acetate at times as it shows the processes

off more clearly for you. Use the same process no matter what you are crafting. Use embossed acetate as

overlays for cards, scrapbook pages or in aperture cards etc.

Gently tap your Anti Static Bag on the acetate to release some powder and swirl over your acetate - remember a little goes a long way! Don't worry about the powder showing - we'll remove that after embossing.

Ink up your stamp - I'm using Versamark again but you could use a pigment colour etc.

Stamp your image on to the acetate. Try to keep a steady hand so as not to smudge the image.

Apply a generous amount of embossing powder and tap firmly but gently to remove any excess powder. If using fine detail embossing powder you can use a paint brush to remove any odd stubborn flecks.

Ready to emboss - see how clean and clear the lines are already!

Heat the embossing powder with your heat gun - HINT - let the heat gun warm up for 20-30 seconds. On acetate if you have a 2 speed heat gun use the lower setting, if you have a 1 speed heat gun then hold it further away from the acetate. Working from one side apply a gentle heat to the image until it turns shiny, move to the next area.

Allow the embossed image to cool then using some kitchen roll or other soft clean cloth - gently rub over to remove any residue anti static powder from the acetate.

Beautiful clean crisp embossed image

Here's a closer look for you

Here's an example from the next demo - again on to acetate.

Which side do you think I used the Anti static bag on ?

3. Creating Faux Metal Embellishments by Embossing on Acetate

I've shown the following using black card stock underneath the acetate as it shows the processes off more

clearly for you.

Use the exact same process no matter what you are using. Use embossed acetate to create faux metal

embellishments such as corners, keys, flowers etc.

I've used a square of acetate sectioned in half so I can show you the results by using the Anti Static

Bag and also what the embossed result will look like when I don't use it.

Square of acetate, post it note to section off other half. Gently tap your Anti Static Bag on the card to release some powder and swirl over your acetate - remember a little goes a long way!

Apply a generous amount of embossing powder and tap firmly but gently to remove any excess powder. If using fine detail embossing powder you can use a paint brush to remove any odd stubborn flecks.

The other side without using the Anti Static Bag - see already how much more powder is sticking to the acetate in this corner compared to the other corner I have just done in the previous step.

Use your heat gun to emboss the powder.

Allow the embossed image to cool then using some kitchen roll or other soft clean cloth - gently rub over to remove any residue anti static powder from the acetate.

Now which side do you think I used the Anti Static Bag on ? The image on the left using the Anti static Bag - Clean clear and crisp. Image on the right NOT using the Anti Static Bag - lines have blurred on the acetate, speckles of loose powder and a part finger print!

So after binning the other image here's my faux metal corner.

In situ raised up on the card.

Here's a another look for you.
